Emmy Award–Winning Hair Artist | Film & TV Beauty Expert

Tené Wilder is an Emmy Award–winning and Academy Award–nominated hairstylist and creative visionary whose work bridges beauty, storytelling, and cultural authenticity across film and television. A Baltimore native, Tené began styling hair at just 12 years old, transforming a childhood passion into a career spanning more than two decades.

In 2003, she opened her first spa salon, The Wilder Experience, which quickly became a community anchor and a launchpad into the entertainment industry. After relocating to New York, Tené’s authentic, character-driven approach led to opportunities on Broadway and major productions including The Wire, Veep, House of Cards, and That’s So Raven.

Her transformative work on FX’s Pose—particularly her hairstyling for the character Angel, portrayed by Indya Moore—earned her a Creative Arts Emmy Award in 2021 for Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling. Tené’s growing film and television portfolio also includes Dope Thief, The Dutchman, Sinners, and the television series His & Hers, highlighting her skill in shaping character, period, and narrative through hair design.

In 2026, Tené received an Academy Award® nomination for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for her work on Sinners, along with nominations from the BAFTA Film Awards, the Screen Actors Guild, and the NAACP Image Awards. These honors reflect her meticulous craftsmanship, collaborative approach, and ability to bring cultural nuance and visual integrity to large-scale productions.

Rooted in faith, purpose, and leadership, Tené is known for working closely with directors, producers, costume designers, and hair teams to support cohesive visual storytelling. Off set, she is a dedicated mentor, uplifting young women and emerging creatives navigating the beauty and entertainment industries. As her work continues to receive industry-wide recognition, Tené Wilder stands poised for expanded leadership opportunities, bringing vision, precision, and cultural intention to every project she touches.
